15.5.10
Just to catch up really after a busy week. On Wednesday
Darren rode as reserve in the British Semi Final and
with a few riders dropping out he had four rides and
scored 7 points (1 3 1 2) finishing half way in the
field - a great performance.
Friday and Saturday saw Darren up North riding in both
King's Lynn victories at Edinburgh and Berwick; the
Berwick match was a painful match though as Darren fell
in heat three doing huge damage to his machinery and
knocking him about a fair bit meaning he is a big doubt
for the Young Stars match against Weymouth on Sunday.

21.4.10
Darren has continued his good form in the Premier League
for King's Lynn. Tonight on a new engine (due to blowing
up his best bike against Rye House last Sunday) he
scored an excellent paid eight from his five rides as he
tries to get the right set up on the new machine.

9.4.10
Darren made his first appearance tonight in the Premier
League for King's Lynn scoring two points from his five
rides away at Somerset.
Darren has replaced Ricky Wallace for the time being
giving him another shot at second tier racing.

5.4.10
Well that's the home and away fixtures against
Scunthorpe raced at the start of the 2010 National
League season.
Darren hit 14 points at home last Saturday against the
Saints, dropping his only point to Benji Compton in heat
eleven in the Young Stars'50-40 victory. The away leg
was raced on Bank Holiday Monday as part of a double
header. With the young Stars on second the track was
pretty slick and Darren scored 8+1 from five rides and
made some decent starts on the night. The team lost the
match by ten points (41-51).

28.3.10
About time I put some news on here!! I've been busy of
late getting the bikes ready for the new season although
due to the poor weather I haven't actually been on track
that much over the winter, British weather!
I have been doing some second halves at King's Lynn;
last Wednesday went well but I did have bike problems at
the start line of my first race but managed to win both
my other rides after that. The bikes feel good and I'm
hoping to get another practise in at Lynn next Thursday.
The season starts proper next Saturday (3rd vs
Scunthorpe) and I'm really looking forward to it. We
then have the return match at Scunthorpe on Monday 5th.
Hope to see you all around the tracks.

4.10.09
Darren ended this seasons Nation League campaign on the
deck after a heat fifteen fall at Newport as he tried to
pass Tony Atkin to join his partner at the front but it
wasn't to be.
Despite that he finished on the winning side on the day
as King's Lynn took a four point victory in Wales after
forcing a draw against the same team at home the
previous evening. With the season end fast approaching
Darren has just one individual meeting left at
Mildenhall unless he gets any guest bookings in the
meantime.

20.6.09
Darren rode at Plymouth last night for the King's Lynn
Barracudas, a track that hasn't seem him rack up a big
score in recent times. The evening wasn't the greatest
for the Barracudas who were 5-25 down after just five
races; that said Darren rode very well to score twelve
points from five rides. Heat four he was taken right to
the fence in a forceful move by Seemond Stephens which
ruined that race for him although in his next he managed
to stop the run of five 1-5's by finishing second to
Mark Simmonds.
Heat nine saw Darren handed the black and white helmet
colour by team boss Dale Allitt against the previously
unbeaten pairing of Kyle Hughes and Paul Starke; a
determined ride saw Darren lead from the tapes and he
held off Starke well for the six points. Heat thirteen
saw another win and a 5-0 with guest Byron Bekker after
the home pair had been excluded in different incidents.
Darren's final race came in heat fifteen and he was on a
5-1 with team mate Adam Allott for three laps before
Kyle Hughes came underneath him to relegate Darren to
third in the race.
A long journey but a decent reward for a hard night's
racing.

27.5.09
Darren has been active riding in the National League
matches for King's Lynn and last Sunday he rode in the
David Nix Grasstrack Meeting. Twelve riders competed in
each heat and in his first race Darren managed 4th
place. He won his next heat before finishing in third in
his last qualifying heat. In the final he scored a
second place to finish on the rostrum, a good end to a
good day's racing. His next piece of National League
racing is this Sunday where he is due to race at
Mildenhall.

9.5.09
A busy week saw Darren ride for King's Lynn on Wednesday
scoring 5+2 (2* 1 1* 1) in a 63-30 win in the Premier
league as he took all the rider replacement rides. On
Friday Darren guested for Glasgow at Somerset and scored
2+1 from his four rides at reserve, not a bad nights
work.
Saturday saw him back at the Norfolk Arena for the
Barracudas tough match against Weymouth. He scored 14
from 5 rides as he shone for the home side and top
scored. Heat four saw him win from the gate but it was a
different story in heat seven as he gated against the
Weymouth pair of James Cockle and Matt Wright. He soon
passed Wright on the inside of bends three and four of
the first lap and then he chased Cockle really hard but
the Wildcat held on for the win in what turned out to be
Darren's only defeat of the night. Darren certainly had
his gating head on with great starts in heats eleven,
thirteen and fifteen as he collected nine more points to
finish off a fine night for him and a great win by
the Barracudas 46-44.

2.5.09
After scoring 8+1 as number eight for King's Lynn on
Wednesday it was back to National League racing tonight
for Darren who scored 9 from his four rides in an
impressive 51-39 win over Plymouth. Darren is getting
the best of both worlds at the moment and has made a
fine start to his 2009 campaign, averaging nearly nine
and a half points a meeting.

19.4.09
Darren had a great meeting last night scoring 14 points
against Scunthorpe in the National League, a match that
King's Lynn won 55-38. He won heats four and seven from
the tapes although Richard Franklin put him under plenty
of pressure in heat seven. Heat eleven saw Darren make
the great over an impressive Barrie Evans and held on
really well before the Scunthorpe racer came underneath
him as they went over the start line to begin the final
lap. However, Darren was to get his revenge as he
defeated Evans twice in the remaining heats, from the
gate in heat thirteen and then from the back in heat
fifteen when he took him on the third bend of the third
lap. Darren's next fixture for the Barracudas will be
away at Rye House next Saturday.

15.4.09
Mixed fortunes for Darren tonight as he lined up at
number eight for the King's Lynn stars. Heat six saw
Darren win the race in a 5-1 with Tomas Topinka but then
disaster as he lined up in heat eight only for his
engine to blow up so from a high to a very low. King's
Lynn won the match 62-32.

10.4.09
Darren scored an impressive paid 14 points in today's
opening National League match against Mildenhall. The
KOC match saw King's Lynn win the meeting 53-37 and
Darren dropped his only point of the match to Barrie
Evans in heat seven. The return leg is away at
Mildenhall on Sunday.

1.4.09
Darren has been practising hard for the up coming
season; last Sunday saw him have some laps at Stoke
while this evening he lined up at number eight for
King's Lynn although didn't get to ride in the main
meeting.
In the second half he had three races where he
won one and came second in the other two racing against
Chris Widman and Jamie Smith. Tomorrow (Thursday),
Darren will be testing another bike at Peterborough. He
said "I'm really looking forward to the new season and
can't wait for it to get going in just over a weeks
time."

8.3.09
I had a practise spin today at the Norfolk Arena after
the STR meeting It had rained during the day but cleared
up nicely and I enjoy some good laps to keep my hand in.
I also rode at Scunthorpe last week to keep active.
There are a few important dates coming up, I am
practising again at King's Lynn on Thursday and on
Wednesday 18th March we have the official Press and
Practise session starting at around 7.30pm.
The National League fixtures have recently been
announced and I hope to have these on the website within
the next week or so. See you all soon.

31.1.09
Darren rode at Scunthorpe today in an open meeting to
get some practise in as the build up to the 2009
campaign continues. It was a successful day in part as
Darren scored seven points from his three rides
including two wins before the meeting had to be cut
short due to track conditions. The first and second
bends had become very rutted and was causing riders to
get out of shape and to avoid the risk of injury the
decision was taken to abandon the meeting. Darren said
"It was the right thing to do as safety is obviously
important to everyone. I will be racing in some practise
sessions at Lynn in February and update when these are
arranged."

28.1.09
It's great to have signed a contract to ride for King's
Lynn in the newly formed National League. I enjoyed last
season with Boston and towards the end of the season I
felt I was riding really well. This year I am going 110%
for success and hope to find a Premier League spot as
well as I continue to progress in the sport. I look
forward to seeing you all around the tracks.

28.1.09

you enjoy it.
